Samaanta began with a simple observation: talented students were being turned away from higher education not for lack of ability, but for lack of opportunity.
How we started
- 2012
A catalyst in Lalitpur
Twenty students from Biswamitra Ganesh Secondary School, a rural public school, passed their SLC exams — four with distinction — but lacked the means to pursue higher education. Their story moved the founders to act.
- 2012–2013
The first fellows
The founders personally financed support for the first deserving students, and began building a model that could grow beyond ad-hoc help.
- First five years
From a few students to a programme
Support expanded to 30 students across 13 public schools in four districts, with a volunteer board and no dedicated office.
- Today
A growing community
Fellows selected from 17 districts, a full-time team and dedicated facilities in Kathmandu, and an ambition to build a national endowment.
One more fellow
Every fellowship is funded by people who believe talent deserves a fair chance.
